several counterfeits); also from the Negros Occidental Provincial
Currency Committee, 1942-44 Issues, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 Pesos. P-S646a;

Good to Fine or better for these emergency issues. One or two with
paper clip rust (9 pieces); from the Cagayan issues, a group of 1-2-5-20
Peso notes (20 pieces), many varieties of ink and paper; also from the
Philippine National Bank - Iloilo, a group of 21 notes, 50 Centavos, 1
Peso, 2-5-10-20 Pesos; from the Negros Emergency Currency Board, a
group of 10 notes, 1-5-10-20-50-100-500 Pesos, F-VF, the 500 Pesos with
rust holes. Finally included are 2 Pesos, 10 Pesos, and 20 Pesos (2) from
the IV Philippine Corps 1943 Military Issue, all Fine. An interesting

1713 Litzmannstadt 1940 Concentration Camp-Ghetto Currency Trio.Lodz (renamed Litzmannstadt), 1940 Lot of 3 notes, Includes 50
Pfennig; 1 Mark; and 20 Marks, different sizes and colors, Scarce and
historic Judaica notes. Lodz was the key industrial city that contained,
after Warsaw, the second largest Jewish community in pre-war Poland.
Lodz was occupied by the German Army in 1939 1 week after the
German’s invaded Poland and renamed Litzmannstadt. In February 1940
the Germans ordered the establishment of a ghetto in the northeastern
section of Lodz. Over 150,000 Jews, more than a third of the total
population of Lodz, were forced into a small area of the city. In January
1942 through 1944 deportations continued from the Lodz Ghetto to the
Chelmno extermination complex. By August 1944 few Jews were left in

1714Łopiszewie Estate Management, c. 1914, Rare 5 Mark Scrip NoteLopischewo, 5 Mark scrip note issued by Łopiszewie Estate Management
and the owner of the property Julius Peter Hoffmann. The issuer’s
assets consisted of a few farms, so the vouchers could be used in several
towns. This issue had a limited circulation of under 200 pieces printed,
and known denominations include 50 Pfennig, 1 Mark, and 3 Mark (not
included in this lot) and the 5 Mark, which is believed to be the only
extant uncancelled example today. As this issue was produced out of
playing cards, every piece has 1 pre-rounded corner, and 3 others that
were later cut to match the rounded one. Rare and unrecorded. LINK:
