merchants and banking houses regarding collection on their notes or
invoices. A variety of paper sizes, many letterheads. Banks include:
Albany City Bank, Horbut Bank, Bank of Central NY, Canajoharie
Bank, Metropolitan Bank, American Exchange Bank, City Bank
(Chicago), Salt Springs Bank, Susquehanna Valley Bank, Bank of the
Capitol, Highland Bank, Chemung Canal Bank, Grouse Bank, Ontario
Bank, and others. Most folded, some with slight stains or old paper

937 Michigan Soldiers Monument Association Certificate.MI. ND
(ca.1860’s). Issued certificate for 10 cents. Black on light tan paper
with multiple Civil War related vignettes including battles, in the
4 corners, a coffin on the bottom, U.S. flags and cannon on top
middle with large vignette of widow with husbands coffin and U.S.
flag. “The Schools of Michigan - to Her 13,000 Fallen Braves....”.
The certificate appears in VG with light water staining or toning,
2 small repaired edge tears with paper backing on back in those
areas, a 1 inch tear in the middle of the top margin and toning spots.
Facsimile signatures of well known Michigan notables including Civil
War Generals. Printed by Calvert Lith. Scarce Civil War Memorial

Cincinnati, Ohio, September 1862, Issued certificate
to John W. Taylor, certificate has printed “Cincinnati was menaced
by the enemies of our Union, David Tod, Governor of Ohio called
on the Minute Men of the State and the Squirrel Hunters came
by the thousands to the rescue” Black on light brown underprint,
Soldier and Notable on top left and right, bottom left with squirrel
in tree and bottom right with Squirrel Hunter with rifle with U.S.
flag between them, Possibly cut margins but still rare and historic
