Washington, 183x (1837 to 1839), Possibly one of 3

different issues based on date which would have been hand written onto

note. $100, HX99CP pp A, P-18 for Act of 12.10.1837; P-22 for Act of

21.5.1838; or, P-26 for Act of 2.3.1839. Plate A, Black on india paper,

8.25 by 4 inches, seated Mercury on cotton bale with cornucopia, lion

at feet, small train and ships flanking him with numeral 100 counters

in all 4 corners, allegorical seated woman holding key with Gryphon at

side and coins at feet on left with text on above and below Receivable in

Payment of All Public Dues, and standing Justice on right. Text states:

The United States Promise to pay One Year after date to _____ or order

One Hundred Dollars with Interests at the rate of _____ per centum.

Washington___ 183____. PMG graded Choice Uncirculated 63 NET

with extremely minor glue staining on back in miniscule spots barely

affecting the top right and bottom right corners, large margins, fresh

appearance with no toning and exceptional paper quality that only add

to this extremely rare banknote that is the last one available from a cut

sheet of 3 from the “Silver City Collection’. This was discovered in a

bank cleanout and was nearly thrown away. Rawdon, Wright & Hatch,
