Issued and Uncanceled 5% Gold Bond Bonds. Black print with a purple/

brown border and tan under print. Certificates are printed in English

and in French. Bond was issued to help China pay the indemnity it owed

the Europeans as a result of the Boxer Rebellion, VF-XF condition,

1 share certificate;

unused; railway construction, for the Province from Hsuan Tung era

(1909). The Left side is the original certificate in blue-green on yellow

design with locomotive on bottom; the Right side is the stub printed

in red. Along the gutter serial # to be filled in. The total initial issuing

quantity valued at 20MM Taels to be released 4M at a time; each share

has a value of 5 Taels. On reverse, conditions of the issuing certificate.

Attractive and rare but repaired extensively with scotch tape. ����Est.
