1236Commonwealth of Australia, ND (1954-59) Specimen Banknote Rarity.

Australia, ND (ca.1954-59), £10, P-32s R62, Specimen Banknote,

Black on red underprint, Governor Arthur Philip at left, Back is orange

with symbols of science and industry, S/N WA/00 000034, Front and

back overprinted in Red double lined diagonal Specimens, 80mm long

and 14mm high, H.C. Coombs and R.Wilson signatures, Title on left

“Governor, Commonwealth Bank of Australia”, Watermarked with

portrait facing right on right side, PCGS graded Very Fine 35 Apparent

with note of small repairs which are very difficult to view, the note is

extremely well centered with large even margins and sharp corners,

firm, crisp paper, bright colors and overall fresh appearance. The note

has been mis-attributed to P-36s for the 1960 series, it is really the 1954

series, P-32s. Extremely rare note in any condition and a trophy for any

Australia collector. Unpriced as specimen in SCWPM. We sold Serial #

13 from this issue in 2011 for $32,000. �������������������������������Est.

Melbourne, Australia. Bright rose, three allegorical figures and

a lion, “SPECIMEN” stamped in purple, and pin cancelled. Small piece

out at the bottom, some stains and staple holes, otherwise VF. ��Est.

Australia, Lot of 3 Specimen Traveler’s Checks,

Includes £2, brown and m/c; £5, blue, green and m/c and £10, red and

m/c underprint, AU, Unc., Unc. All with red Specimen overprints and

2 POC’s, 2 with blank counterfoil on left and the third is missing it, all

with blank backs, All with similar designs with the bank’s logo used on

its issued banknotes on the left of a young child or cherub holding shears

ready to shear a sheep, Text states denomination in “Australian currency”

and “payable at any branch of any bank in Australia”. Issued notes are

extremely rare from this bank and this may be as close as most collectors

will ever get to owning a fiscal document or banknote from this bank.

Australia, Lot of 3 Specimen Traveler’s Checks, Includes £2, brown and

m/c; £5, Dark green and m/c and £10, blue and m/c underprint, All

are AU to Uncirculated. All with “00,000” Serial Numbers and 2 POC’s,

All with counterfoil on left Signed “APPROVED 14/11/(19)35”, all with

blank backs, Bank logo on top left with two allegorical women and man

with arms of different states and countries, Text states denomination in

“English Currency”. Issued notes are extremely rare from this bank and

this may be as close as most collectors will ever get to owning a fiscal
