York, NY. December 1, 1876, 2 Shares Common Stock, Black on blue
border and underprint, Speeding locomotive on top with portrait
on bottom, ITASB Jay Cooke as Trustee, Poc’s, Jay Cooke was an
American financier. Cooke and his firm Jay Cooke & Company were
most notable for their role in financing the Union’s war effort during
the American Civil War. In his later career, Cooke was noted for his
role in the financing of railroads in the northwestern United States.

of NY and Charles H. Clark, master, to pass with 12 men. Signed in
bold hand. Secretary of State Edward Livingston. Paper and wax
impression of theGreat Seal of theUnitedStates at lower left. Folded
twice each ways in the past, slight rodent nibbling at one fold line
affecting a small area of the vignette, slight mildew to parchment at
another near the presidential signature. Overall quite pleasing ship
and lighthouse vignette as well as the calligraphy. Large parchment
which shows printing plate frame. Framed with a BEP portrait of
the president. Frame is gilt edged and professional, overall 17 x 30
inches, vertical aspect. Sold as is, No returns. Please inspect this nice
