Lot of 2 Federal checks used to
pay soldiers during and after the Civil War, both are ca.1860-70. In-
cludes Detroit, Michigan, Depositary of the U.S., Brown; and New
York, NY, 186x, Assistant Treasurer of the U.S., Red, both Unissued
and with Allegorical Liberty with Flag and eagle at left and shield
with “Treasurer of the U.S.” on it. Both in AU to Uncirculated condi-

Tube Company, Includes Complete Large Die Proof engraving of
Prairie Chicken printed on india paper on large card with approv-
al signatures and artists initials on bottom left, Also included is
original artwork in watercolor of Chicken with Initials on lower left
“W.L.G.” which I assume are the artist’s initials as well text on top
“Engraved by E. Steinck - June 1891”, The sketch had an overlay
with corrections which is mostly missing now. Unique artwork from
