Standard Oil Co. 86 Shares, I/C Stock certificate. #102. This historic
document has an ornate border with a vignette of the U. S. Capitol
and patriotic Liberty portrait, counterfoil glued on left back margin.
VF condition with very light creases from folding and minor toning
on the very edge. Maverick, Stephan & Co. Signed by John D.
Rockefeller as president and Henry M Flagler as Secretary. By 1872,
Standard Oil controlled more then 25% of daily usage of oil used in
the U.S., which gave Rockefeller immense power over his competi<
tors and by 1899 Standard Oil controlled over 90% of American oil
refined in the U.S. which set them up to be the target of the
Sherman Anti<Trust Act which eventually caused the company to be
reorganized. Henry Flagler was the founder of Standard Oil along
with Rockefeller. Besides his oil interests, Flagler became interested
in Florida in the 1880’s and single handedly developed the entire
east Coast of Florida from Palm Beach to Key West as well as rail<
roads. Historic certificate with autographs.

Stock. #277. This historic document has an ornate border around it
with a vignette of the U. S. Capitol and patriotic vignette of a
woman brandishing a sword and a large American flag. The
Standard Oil Company preceded the Standard Oil Trust Company.
Fine condition with some creases from folding and minor wear
around the edges with small chips out of extra wide lower border
that could be trimmed if desired. Maverick, Stephan & Co. Original
John D. Rockefeller signature as president and Henry M Flagler as
Secretary. Certificate from the Standard Oil Company printed in
1870 when the company was founded but issued in
1881.
