84 Colony of the Massachusetts Bay, 1775 Issued Bond Engraved
by Paul Revere.
£ 16.18.10 6% due 1 June 1777, with vignette at left
engraved by Paul Revere, showing a codfish, King Philip, and the
words (Am)erican Paper below. The first issue of the Colony, MA 1,
and the first attempt to finance the Revolution. Known as the “King
Philip” bonds, this is a rare piece, and is in very nice condition, with
some expert repairs on the verso. Also includes photo from 1980’s
to early 1990’s Smythe auction listing the sales price at
$1600
