Issued, Black with red “1862” overprint, steamship on top, pelican feeding

chicks on bottom, This was issued under Confederate occupation. The

Union army captured the city on April 29th, barely 2 months later. Rare

299 Texas and German Emigration Company, 1854 Issued Stock Certificate.

Galveston, Texas. 5 Shares, I/U Stock Certificate. Black

print with an simple black geometric border on left hand side of

certificate, printed on light blue paper. XF condition with small hole

along left border close to edge of certificate. Beginning in the 1840s,

a wave of social unrest in Germany began a flood of immigration to

Texas. The Texas and German Emigration Company, also known as the

Adelsverein, purchased more than 4,400 acres of land in Fayette County

advertising it as a settlement opportunity to Germans . Some 5,257

Germans arrived in Texas between October 1845 and April 1846. The

largest and most well-known of their settlements are New Braunfels in

Comal and Guadalupe County and Fredericksburg in Gillespie County.

Vignette top center of locomotives at steel plant, Red SPECIMEN

overprints and POC’s, red s/n “00000”, VF-XF condition, ABNC.

Specimen of company IPO certificate. Company was formed by J.P.

Morgan and attorney Elbert Gary by combining Andrew Carnegie’s

Carnegie Steel, Gary’s Federal Steel and William Henry Moore’s
