paper with ornate “1” counterfoil on left, ornate title, payable at
their offices in San Francisco, VF condition with small tear and
stamp hinge repairs on reverse. Also included is a handwritten con<
firmation letter for the same bill of exchange letterhead of “Office
of wells, Fargo & Co., New York & California Express & Exchange
Co.”.

Company 1867 Shipping Document For Wells Fargo.

and Panama. 1867 Waybill or invoice for case shipped from New
York to the Port of Aspinwall, then to be transported via the
Panama Railroad to the Port of Panama, and then by steamer to
San Francisco, printed in blue on white paper (12.5” x 9.7”), indicat<
ing that one case of certain goods were shipped in apparent good
order and condition on board the Pacific Mail Steam Ship
Company’s (PMSSC) steamer “Rising Star”. Value of the goods
declared to be $138. The left portion of the document depicts a
steam ship belonging to the PMSSC with the heading “SLOW < New
York to San Francisco”. VF condition. Signed for by Wells Fargo,
Sole Freight Agents of the PMSSC and for the Panama Railroad
Company.
