Lot of 3 items, Includes a pair of brass or copper Battle Verdun medals with almost exactly the same design, one small (2.5 x 2.5 cm) and one large (3.5 x 3.5 cm). Features a long-haired woman with sword in right hand on obverse, reverse shows an image of the city gates and the main entrance into the city of Verdun, with the date of 21 February 1916 in French. Large medal is the only “official” Verdun Medal, with “S.E. Vernier” designer and 1917 date on obverse. This was a non-wearable piece presented with a leather pouch and certificate, both included in the lot. This was the only official medal issued by the Golden Book Commission. The later, smaller, and wearable Vernier medal was intended to be suspended from a ribbon. The obverse of the wearable version does not have the “1917” date as does the unwearable variety. Lot of 2 items, Includes: War Commemorative Medal of 1870/71, Red, white, and black ribbon. The medal for combatants was manufactured from captured bronze cannon barrels. The obverse shows the crowned Royal cypher of William I over German inscription, Reverse shows a cross with rays between the four arms. This campaign medal was presented by Kaiser William I in his capacity as King of Prussia, to commemorate service in the Franco Prussian War; German World War I oval medal, black, white, and red ribbon, German writing on one side with a star at top, Flag with 1914-1918 to left on other side. Lot of 5 pieces, Includes: German Chorus Association pin, German text in circle with shield and metal design at right, all surrounded by black and red fabric, pin on back with Mayer & Wilhelm imprint; 1 Jahr Zuruck pin, gold design with crown at top, laurel at bottom; Germany, Third Reich. A 1935 Gauappell Halle-Merseburg Badge, German eagle with factory smokestacks in background, pair of Swatiskas as well; German eagle medal on obverse, reverse has German text underneath village; German Fire Brigade Honor Cross Medal, red blue and yellow ribbon, blue cross at center with black eagle, red flames curling towards, German text in gold circle surrounding the piece. Lot of 2 pieces, both are Hans Beimler awards adhered to red velvet backdrops protected by plastic. Both feature a portrait of Beimler, one with “BMK Erfurt Company School” in German at top, the other with “Friend and Role Model of Youth” in German at top. The Hans Beimler Medal was a GDR decoration. The medal was instituted on 17 May 1956 and was awarded to East Germans who fought in the Spanish civil war on the side of the republicans. The medal was named after Hans Beimler, the first commissar of the German Communist contingent and the XI International Brigade in Spain. The medal was presented in the name of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers. The 1939–1945 Star is a military campaign medal instituted by the United Kingdom on 8 July 1943 for award to British and Commonwealth forces for service in the Second World War; Royal Engineers cap badge, “GR” at center with “Royal Engineers” at bottom, surrounded by laurels; World War II Canadian Paratrooper Jump Wing pin, parachute with wings and maple leaf on front “William Scully” engraved on back; Antique masonic pendant for “Berkshire Royal Arch Chapter” located in Pittsfield Massachusetts, clasp at top.
