New York & Canada. ND, ca.1989-94. Lot of 7 different polymer sample notes with different security elements added. All are 100 Denomination notes with oil platform on front and back with oil wagon being pulled by horses, Includes security elements with colorful and ornate designs, all with variations of the translucent silver and gold security windows, watermarks or foil designs on the counterfoil margins. The notes were part of a project from Mobil Oil for testing petroleum based hydrocarbon polymer paper for printing banknotes. The project was terminated once they merged with Exxon. New York and Canada, uncut block of 4 notes, All with different watermark and security devices on right margins, face also includes design of oil wells, a small silver Pegasus and S/N’s DN 000000, back with farmer falling horse drawn water or oil tank. Large excess margins at right include clear window with white maple leaf, crisscross white pattern over clear window, and 2 small rectangles on the other 2 note. Choice to Gem Uncirculated. Includes 5 different Lincoln vignettes; 6 different Washington vignettes; 3 different Native American Indian vignettes used on Wells Fargo Traveler’s Checks; 4 different young women portraits and a John Deere portrait used on Stock and Bond certificates. All in VF to Uncirculated condition. Lot of 4 different proofs. All are Lazy Numerals used as security elements for Obsolete Banknotes, includes the Numerals 1, 2 3 and 5, all that would be printed horizontally (hence the word lazy) as an underprint security element that is found on numerous obsolete banknotes. Printed by one of the ABN predecessor companies, all are printed on india paper that is unmounted in light orange-brown. All are in AU to Uncirculated, all are rare. Large format, The firm has locations listed “No.47 Sansom St., Philadelphia and No.14 Wall Street, NY”. Black on thin white india type of paper, large medallion cameo inmiddle surrounded by dozens of allegorical figures including sailing ships, cameos, counterfoils and numerals and counters, Quarter folded, appears VF but one vignette has been cut out of the top left area that could easily be replaced, still very rare and desirable even with one vignette missing.
