Includes designs for $1 Uncas Bank; $20 Union Bank of Columbia; $1 Farmers & Merchants Bank; and $100 Wareham Bank. Produced as part of a modern series reproducing classic 19th century banknotes. The sheet includes four classic obsolete banknote designs: $3 Eastern Bank of Alabama; $20 Kansas Valley Bank; $50 People’s Bank of Kentucky; and $500 Atlantic State Bank. Sheet represents internal production material used during the printing process, often discarded or retained as printer’s waste or color trial impressions. AU to UNC condition. Portrait of George Washington commissioned for the Continental Bank Note Co. in1879 by an unknown engraver who took inspiration from the Athenaeum portrait painted by Gilbert Stuart in 1796. The Stuart portrait appeared on a number of US stamps including the 10 cent stamp printed in 1855 by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co. Uncirculated, ABNC.
