714 Wellstood, Benson & Hanks, ca.1847-49 Original Pen, Ink and Watercolor Portrait for Vignette Design.New York, 1847-1849,
original pen, ink and watercolor illustration of Native American
“Progress” watching ship approaching, the design is 2 inches by
2.5 inches painted on thin cardboard, 4 3/4 by 8 inches, Evidence of
previous mounting on back, the face appear in excellent condition
with minor foxing on face. Wellstood, Benson & Hanks, was formed
in 1847 and shortly after changed its name to Wellstood, Hanks,
Hay & Whiting (ca.1848-49). Unique artwork from this historic and
pioneer banknote engraving firm that in 1858 was merged with
American Bank Note Company. One of 5 examples of this historic

715 Harrison & Sons Banco Central de Nicaragua contract folder.Nicaragua. Folder of information from Harrison & Sons which
includes information on a 1991 printing of notes. Includes 500 and
1000 Cordobas Specimen overprinted notes with “000000” serial
#’s and control numbers in lower right margin. Color photo copies
of other notes, correspondence from the bank and Harrisons, letters
and faxes. Tied together in a 9x13 inch manila folder. Also included
are three mounted color photo copies of 5, 20, 50 watercolor 1993

717 Fairman, Draper, Underwood & Company Proof Advertising Sheet. 1824.Philadelphia. 16” x 17 1/2”. With over fifty intaglio
engraved vignettes, counters and end panels by one of the premier
bank note companies of the 1820s & 1830s. “2” in the white box in
the top border. Printed at a time when many banks realized that
their very existence depended on the use of high quality, complex,
and artistic vignettes on their banknotes in order to prevent
counterfeiting. The vignette at the top center is a perfect example
- William Penn’s Treaty with the Indians. The two small birds at the
bottom (Running Grouse) attributed to James Audobon. Lightly
pasted on a black paper sheet. VF detail, but there are numerous
tears and splits that have been repaired with tape. A perfect display
