Certificate.

New York, NY, $10,000, Haxby NY-1435-Not listed,

1879, Bank of America, Special Deposit Certificate to the NewYork

Clearing House payable in Gold. Black on green underprint, Indian

Princess with shield at center, counterfoil on left, back blue with

endorsement space, Archival date on bottom “Oct. 28th, 1879”,

Danforth, Wright & Co., imprint (Evidently this is a pre-1860 design

used at a later date). Appears CU but there are light vertical folds

between the note and the counterfoil on the left as well as 2 very

light archival handling folds on the right margin. Rare, stunning and

missing from most advanced collections. DF&C (ABNC). This was

meant for internal bank purposes and not for public circulation. A

similar example sold in the Shingoethe. Auction in a different color

in 2004 for over $6000. (Ex-Stacks, Entlich, White Oak, Gross & St.

cherub on left, VF with light toning spots but no pin holes or other

faults and nice evenmargins; $2, train and canal scene inmiddle with

allegorical figures on sides, Fine to Choice Fine with an ink spot on

the back middle and $5, seated reaper with cattle on either end, NY-
