Vermont Marble and Soap Stone Co. Issued Stock certificate. 100
Shares, Black on black border and underprint, Vignette top center of
two men viewing an architectural drawing, allegorical woman
standing over cornucopia on left, VF-XF condition, ABNC. This is the
earliest ABNC imprint seen on a stock certificate that the cataloger
knows of. Further research would be warranted. . . . . .

inch real photo from American Bank Note Archives used in the
design for vignette portraits used on documents and advertising
banknotes. Back has purple hand stamp “This credit line should not
be omitted, altered ….” listing Underwood & Underwood’s
address, archival markings on back, the face is in excellent condition
with a slight bend on the lower right corner, Rare Edison real photo-

2520 ABNC 1860’s Advertising Note for “Bank Note Paper”.
Manchester, Connecticut and New York. ND (ca. 1860’s). No
denomination. Black on red underprint with portrait of Andrew
Jackson on left, young woman on right and patriotic eagle in middle
with flowery corner border engraving design, back blank, text on
note states “BANK NOTE PAPER - Made by M.Hudson and
for sale by the American Bank Note Company - and its Branches.
Also at the Mills, Manchester, CT - Bankers Specimen”. Numerous
folds and evidently carried around awhile in someone’s wallet, but
still very attractive and appears Fine to Choice Fine condition.
