Reading, Berks County, PA. $100, Repaired Proof printed in black on

india paper, allegorical young girl and Mercury sitting with ship in

background, appears VF but it is missing the left counterfoil which

was replaced with a photocopy and is missing the lower middle due to

Hollidaysburg, PA. Lot of 3 notes, all are $5, Issued

obsolete banknotes, Black on red under print, Seated allegorical reaper

top left with sheaves, seated reaper sitting in “V”, man with dog and child

at top right and young woman at lower right, Large red “V” in under

print. Choice Fine to VF condition. Very attractive banknotes. DW&C.

757 Clearing House Committee of the Philadelphia Banks, 1873 Loan Certificate.

Philadelphia, PA., $5000, P-Unlisted, Clearing certificate

from 1873 depression, Black on white paper, ornate text but plain form,

S/N 10097, Counterfoil on left, POC’s, XF-AU condition. This note was

sold during the 1996 Memphis Auction for $1065. Very probably unique

and this is the only example the cataloger has seen offered since then.

Also includes an images of the Clearing House building. (From the
