570 U.S. Third Liberty Loan 4 ¼% Gold Bond of 1928 (issued May 9, 1918)$50, Jefferson on top, “temporary” bond with “cherry” red
color, highly embossed and retains three of the four original coupons.
Unbeknown to most collectors, these temporary bonds are a subset
of bonds that are amongst the scarcest; as once the 4th coupon came
due they were exchanged at no cost to the “long” bonds that resumed
this series. The reverse in dark chocolate brown color features a classic
American Bald Eagle and a strongly embossed Treasury Seal. Est.
$1000-1500

571 Fourth Liberty Loan 4 ¼% Gold Bond of 1933-1938 (issued Oct. 24, 1918)$50, Jefferson on top, Fourth Liberty Loan “Permanent” or
Long Bond, mint green under-print, vibrant red treasury seal. Coupons
32-40 attached. The reverse has a nice chocolate brown rendition
of “Justice” draped with the American flag on the bond. Treasury
seal clearly stamped. Bond grades VF+ but cut close on left due to
coupon removal and a very small area of rust from an old paper clip.

572 Fourth Liberty Loan 4 ¼% Gold Bond of 1933-1938 ( issued Oct. 24, 1918)$100, Jackson on top, a Fourth Liberty Loan “Permanent”
or Long Bond has a mint green under-print with a vibrant red treasury
seal. There are coupons 32-40 attached. The reverse has a golden orange
rendition of “Justice” draped with the American flag on the bond.
Appears VF but the bottom left coupon has been cut into and there is
rust stains and paper burn going through the paper in small spots from
the location of an old paper clip, still a very attractive bond for the issue.
