Bond.

Monroe, Louisiana, 1885. Specimen bond. $1000. Prior

Lien Mortgage 6% Gold Coupon Bond. Black border and green

undertint. Locomotive L-R passing telegraph lines on top and

stork feeding young on bottom. Red specimen overprint, “0000”

serial numbers and POC’s. Coupons attached. Fine to VF condi-

tion with minor edge splits at fold, archival handling and the usu-

al folds from storage. Rare and attractive bond. Cox Plate note.

Series A, Gold Bonds, Includes $5000, orange border and $10,000,

blue border, Locomotives flanking pelican feeding her young top

center. POC’s and red SPECIMEN overprints. VF-XF condition,

ABNC. The $10,000 denomination is listed issued only in Cox, the

$5000 denomination is unlisted. Rare Specimen bonds.���� Est.

sued January 1 1934), $1000 Specimen 1st Mortgage 5% Series A

Specimen Bond, Black with orange border and underprint, Moving

locomotive L-R top center, Overprinted diagonally in middle with

Gold Clause stating that the bond that used to be payable in gold

was now payable in “any coin or currency which at the time of pay-

ment is Legal Tender...”, POC’s and red SPECIMEN overprints, VF

condition, ABNC. Rare with only 2 others found with this clause and
