book. All are cut down proofs on india mounted to card by Durand.
Durand was responsible for the direction that security printing and
engraving took in the United States and was the holder of many
patents that allowed the engraver to practice his art at a new level
that made it more difficult to counterfeit banknotes. (ex The 52

numeral counters and protectors on top of it as well as cycloidal
lathe engraved counters in rectangular, circular and odd intricate
shapes with intricate engraving, This page was Page 80 of 96 differ-
ent pages saved in Durand’s personal engraving book. All are cut
down proofs on india mounted to card by Durand. Durand was
responsible for the direction that security printing and engraving
