Richmond, Virginia. Nov. 28, 1864, $100,000 War Department Warrant,

Issued, black on light blue, Allegorical woman on top left, “War” on left

counterfoil, Issued to J.B. Cary, Quartermaster, Richmond, Virginia. Also

signed by Robert Tyler, Register of the Treasury, Also signed by Secretary

of the Treasury George Trenholme (the last CSA Sec. of the Treas.),

Attached to a large appropriation form from the war department. XF to

AU condition. Rare warrant. It is reported that only one other example

exists. Printer: J.T. Paterson. (From the collection of John E. Herzog).

France. ND (1938). Face is

black, orange, brown and m/c on white paper with approximately 1 inch

margins, back is printed in brown on light m/c under print. Ornate

border designs with armor, spears and shields surrounding Portrait of

Louis XVI, with additional text on bottom “Rot de France, Tricentaire,

1638-1938”. Back has brown text describing what the company does in

French, English and Spanish with light pastel under prints. CU condition.

Bottom imprint on face “Grave et Imprime Par E.Desfosses, Paris...”.

Rare and extremely attractive French advertising note. �������������Est.
