Group of 3 pieces, All are Advertising Business Cards from the Western Bank Note and Engraving Co., Western Division of the American Bank Note Co: Micro-Engraving of the Declaration of Independence, originally engraved in 1840, surrounded by George Washington, John Adams, Great Seal of the United States, as well as the state seals of the thirteen original colonies, on reverse is a depiction of the Western Bank Note Co. building in Chicago, AU condition with faint bend blemish at top center; Second piece is features “The American Flag,” a poem authored by W. D. Nesbit, with allegorical Liberty at left, XF to AU condition with some toning at center. Both are printed on cardstock; the third Intaglio Vignette features the Seal of Montana with state details such as settlement date, union admittance date, area in square miles, and population in 1910. 13 x 9 cm, Intaglio with black text, seal with green frame. Lot of 2 pieces: Brief Note written to Mr. Smillie regarding a die, handwritten on Memorandum from American Bank Note Co. letterhead; and a Playing Card Back Proof in blue, also from ABNC, featuring an ornate design at center. Both are in Fine-VF condition with some damage to edges and staple holes. Mr. Smillie is likely James Smillie, an American artist and engraver.
