France, 1915, Lot of 3 Registered specimen bonds, Includes : $1000 in brown; $10,000 in red; and, $50,000 in blue; All have red specimen overprints, 00000 serial numbers, and POCs. VF condition, ABNC. The Anglo-French Financial Commission was a special delegation to the United States from the governments of the United Kingdom and France in 1915 during the First World War. The Commission, led by Lord Reading, secured the single largest loan from private US banks prior to American entry into World War I in 1917. In September 1915 France and the United Kingdom signed an agreement to establish the Inter-Allied Munitions Bureau, which was to coordinate purchasing in all neutral countries, principally the United States. In May 1916 the British had to take over the financing of French purchases in the United States as a result of the weakness of the French wartime economy. Historic bond trio which heralded the eventual participation of the U.S. to enter World War I. Odd Shares, Proof Stock Certificate, Black text, Pair of seals in ornate frames at top center. Fine condition with stain over large portion of certificate, small piece missing at center left. The Scarborough & Whitby Railway was a railway line from Scarborough to Whitby in North Yorkshire, England. The line followed a difficult but scenic route along the North Yorkshire coast. Evidently used for the refinancing of the External Debt of Venezuela. Mentions Guzman Blanco, “illustrious American, Pacificator, Regenerator and President of the U.S.of Venezuela”. Also mentions N.
