Austria.... 1898, Lot of 2 medals, both with the same design, one is sized 3 x 3 cm, bronze, copper or brass without ribbon, the other is smaller and sized 1.5 x 1.5 cm in gold or gold plated metal with a red and white ribbon. On the obverse is a profile of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, the reverse with the phrase “SignumMemoriae.” The smaller medal is in golden color and in better condition than the larger. These were intended to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Franz Joseph’s reign.
