One Share I/U Stock Certificate. 17 x 13.5 inches, #276, Black text with black border, George Washington on horse in circular frame at top center, Ford Mansion depicted at bottom center. Fine condition with splitting and toning along fold lines. The Washington Association of New Jersey was founded in 1874 in order to preserve the Ford Mansion which sheltered General George Washington and his Headquarters staff during the worst winter of the Revolutionary War (1779-1780). Today WANJ is the partner of the Morristown National Historical Park and works to insure the legacy of General Washington and the Continental Army. Fine condition with extensive reinforced folds, but extremely rare and attractive security printed stock certificate by Continental BNC. Includes 1.75 x 2 inches portrait of Revere with leaves surrounding oval portrait with “No.45” listed on bottom and a 6 x 3.5 inch square portrait taken from Gilbert Stuart’s painting of Revere with his facsimile signature and text “ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE BANKNOTE INDUSTRY” on the bottom, plate#X-2115 on top border. Both in AU condition but there is a small 2 x 1.5 mm piece missing from the right border of the large image.
