A Century of Progress International Exposition, also known as the Chicago World’s Fair, was a World’s Fair held in the city of Chicago, Illinois, United States from 1933 to 1934. The fair, celebrated the city’s centennial. The theme of the fair was technological innovation, and its motto was “Science Finds, Industry Applies, Man Adapts”, giving out a message that science and American life were wedded. Its architectural symbol was the Sky Ride, a transporter bridge perpendicular to the shore on which one could ride from one side of the fair to the other. One description of the fair noted that the world, “then still mired in the malaise of the Great Depression, could glimpse a happier not-too-distant future, all driven by innovation in science and technology.” Fair visitors saw the latest wonders in rail travel, automobiles, architecture and cigarette-smoking robots. The Louisiana Purchase Exposition, informally known as the St. Louis World’s Fair, was an international exposition held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, from April 30 to December 1, 1904. Local, state, and federal funds totaling $15 million were used to finance the event. More than 60 countries and 43 of the then-45 American states maintained exhibition spaces at the fair, which was attended by nearly 19.7 million people. Historians generally emphasize the prominence of themes of race and empire, and the fair’s long-lasting impact on intellectuals in the fields of history, art history, architecture and anthropology. Regards a land deed between the two men, with Henderson purchasing a tract of land along the Mississippi River from Throop for the sum of $800. The property was located on the Mississippi River about 6 miles above Natchez. The property was located at a place that used to be called “Bells Old Camp”. Document outlines the terms of the deal, as well as the location of the purchased property. Includes an attached seal at back. VF condition, especially for its age. Orleans Territory was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from October 1st, 1804 until April 30th, 1812, when it was admitted to the Union as the State of Louisiana.
