Bloomington, Illinois. Lot of 4 notes (uncut sheet of 4), 18xx (ca.1960-70’s), $1-2-3-5, (IL-60-G2a; IL-60-G4a; IL-60-G6a; IL-60-G8a SENC) Modern “Proprietary Proofs”. The $1 proof has a man with sack and 2 horses on the left, and portrait of man at right; the $2 note has farmer plowing on right with girl in middle; the $3 has surveyors on left and oxen pulling wagon in middle; and the $5 note has men with boat and dogs with sled on lower left and man on lower right. Notches on all 4 margins for printing registration. Black printing without underprint printed on thin white card, Uncirculated condition. The $5 note is listed as “SENC” in Haxby. TC&C. Woodstock, Illinois, October 1, 1875, $10, P-Unlisted, Issued obsolete banknote or scrip note. Allegorical female “Reaper” on left and Franklin on right with red circular underprint of company logo in red of Anchor with “Anchor Pickle & Vinegar Works - Heinz, Noble & Co”. Also black oval overprint on face “Payable at Murphy & Bishop Banking House”, a few small splits and the lower left and right corners either missing or detached but still present, a few small pin holes on the left margin, otherwise crisp, attractive and only 2 very light vertical folds. This was listed as a 3rd and final example offered by R.M.Smythe in 2004. This stunning red, black and white Proprietary Proof sheet, from a bank not listed in Haxby, features the highest quality ABN printing and engraving. All of the notes show the Auditor’s Office seal. The $1 with a large red ONE flanked by women. The $2 has an eagle, center, and the milkmaid that appears on CSA T-39 and 40 notes. The $3 features tow young girls flanking a seated woman, and the $5 has a waterfall at the center. The sheet is Choice Uncirculated, with registration notched in the top and bottom margins. Printed as a Proof for a limited edition to be distributed at the ANA 105th Convention , August 1996, Denver, Colorado.
