This lot features a un- redeemed U.S. Treasury Bearer bond issued just prior to their discontinuance in the Mid 1980’s. This bond has a face and redemption value of $1,000.00. The bond was called (5) years prior to the final redemption date, 30 years from issue. The remaining coupons hold collector value only and may not be redeemed for cash. None the less the bond may be redeemed for its full face value at any time at any Federal Reserve Branch. President Abraham Lincoln on the obverse with a lime green under-print with the American Bald Eagle and mid 1970’s rendition of the Treasury seal in bright red. I/C Certificate, Issued to Spencer Lindley “Musician”, Captain Lindley, Massachusetts Militia, War of 1812. Printed on bond paper, Large format certificate. Red protector, curved BOUNTY LAND top and ACRES bottom bracket with the 160 (“60” crossed out leaving “One Hundred xxxxxx Acres”, Washington with sword, above portrait of Dobbin, Secretary of the Navy. Right end, Franklin Pierce above standing sailor, An exceptionally ornate and very scarce certificate with bright colors and great eye appeal with light ink stains on lower excess margins. This would have been a Very Fine certificate but there is a 2 inch by 3/4 inch triangular piece missing in the middle where cancelled, also ink cancels in middle. Dime sized circular punch cancel on lower right, pinholes, a pen mark, and it is trimmed inwards at the left end. Vignette of allegorical Liberty with anchor and cannon on left, At the right is Liebler’s America Seizing the Lightning as used on United States Nationals, printed in black on orange border and undertint. S/N 407, Plate A1, Issued to James River National Bank, Jamestown, North Dakota. Brown border and design on back for endorsements, Transfer # 1908, redeemed on January 21, 1899 in Washington, D.C., one of two examples confirmed and is the finest by far. Engraved and printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. 30.5cm by 14.0cm. Large red Treasury seal. Engraved Lyons signature.
