Lot of 5 Issued Notgeld notes from the Inspektion der Kriegsgefangenenlager im Bereich des III. Armeekorps, consisting of 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 Pfennig denominations, each with ornate borders, Imperial eagle at top center, bold denomination panels, individual serial numbers, and printed signatures of camp authorities. Issued for use within German prisoner of war camps during World War I as internal camp currency. Notes range from Uncirculated to CU condition with strong color and eye appeal overall. Printed on colored paper with decorative borders, serial numbers, and company stamps, and POCs at center. These notes were issued as industrial wage scrip during the early period of World War I for use within the company’s payroll system. Notes range from Fine to VF overall with folds, minor staining, tape remnants on one example, and small punch holes. (3). Also included is 75 Pfennig with a black and tan geometric design and central inscription “Gutschein über 75 Pfennig der Stadt Hameln.” All notes printed by Druckerei Appelhans, Braunschweig. Notes are in Choice Uncirculated to Superb Uncirculated condition overall with strong vibrant and fresh colors. (7). Notes feature multiple design types including Imperial eagle motifs and cityscape views of Nördlingen, with serial numbers, decorative borders, and municipal authorization by the city magistrate. Printed in a variety of color combinations including black, red, green, and orange. These emergency notes were issued by the city during World War I to address shortages of small denomination coinage. Uncirculated to Gem Uncirculated or better condition. (12).
