Printed in black and red with an ornate border and bold title; central vignette of a sidewheel steamer flying an American flag; issued to Edwin H. Lewis, Trustee of the Estate of Jay Cooke & Co. in Bankruptcy; incorporated in 1862 to control transportation along the Columbia River system, the company dominated steamboat traffic and later operated connecting rail lines between Portland, The Dalles, and eastern markets, becoming a vital artery for Pacific Northwest commerce before eventual acquisition by the Northern Pacific Railroad; dated May 15, 1874, with embossed corporate seal, officer signatures, and serial number 3011; Choice Fine to VF condition or better.
