Also included is a typed letter signed by Bing Crosby referring to a ‘little episode which took place on the golf course.’ Letter comes with original envelope. VF to AU condition. (2). New York. 1828 Manifest of passengers for the “Montgomery of Albany” from June to July 1828 with the mileage each Passenger Travelled. Included in the lot is a pamphlet for “Opening the navigation between the Head Waters of the Seneca Lake and Chemung River.” Both pieces are Fine-VF condition with minor splitting at fold lines, light foxing and small faults. John McCain’s letter is on United States Senate letterhead, and he writes “Your sons have informed me of your dedication to a lifetime of public service. I have always found service to a cause greater than one’s self-interest to be one of the most rewarding decisions a person can make.” Rudolph Giuliani’s letter is on a personal letterhead and acknowledges Lifflander’s “lifelong dedication to the American political process” and his many accomplishments. John Edwards letter is on a personal letterhead, and writes that “our nation owes you a debt of gratitude for your dedication.” The final letter is from Sam Brownback and is on United States Senate letterhead, and offers congratulations and birthday wishes. All of the pieces have their respective autographs at bottom, and are in VF condition and held in a protective folder. Johnny Reid Edwards is an American lawyer and former politician who served as a U.S. senator from North Carolina. He was the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2004 alongside John Kerry, losing to incumbents George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Samuel Dale Brownback (born September 12, 1956) is an American attorney, politician, diplomat and member of the Republican Party who served as the United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom from 2018 to 2021. Brownback previously served as the Secretary of Agriculture of Kansas (1986–93), as the U.S. representative for Kansas’s 2nd congressional district (1995–96), as a United States senator from Kansas (1996–2011) and the 46th governor of Kansas (2011–18).
