Large-format commemorative program celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the International Association of Siderographers, 1899–1949, issued for the biennial banquet and convention. The ornate cover features an allegorical vignette of Mercury at left and a siderography lathe within a circular frame at right, finely engraved in black and white with decorative typography. Also included in the booklet is an International association of Siderographers souvenir card with an impressive eagle flanked by the dates in gold “1899-1949”; a photograph of William Green, president of thr American Federation of Labor; an outstanding “Columbian Bank Note Company souvenir card illustrating the Fine Arts Building from the Panama Pacific Exposition - 1915; and an amazing Bureau of Engraving & Printing Advertising note, with screaming eagle in middle under title “Exhibition Die - United States Treasury Department - Bureau of Engraving and Printing” with ornate border that is a the size of a small size banknote; the booklet is Bound with a plastic comb spine binding, the program also contains historical notes, membership listings, and convention details. A scarce and visually impressive union souvenir, marking a half-century of the siderographers’ trade. Condition is AU on the covers and the interior is in Superb Gem Uncirculated. Official program booklet and invitation for the Twenty-Ninth Biennial Banquet of the International Association of Siderographers, held September 4, 1965 at the Manger Hamilton Hotel, Washington, D.C., bound in plastic comb with printed title cover, the interior includes a large portrait of George Washington (BEP printed), and 3 U.S. postage stamps glued to the interior of the back cover of Hoover, Kennedy; and Churchill; and, an engraved invitation to the same banquet, printed in blue with union emblem with a siderography machine in the middle and ornate lettering. A scarce pair of mid-20th century union banquet security printing ephemera documenting one of the major gatherings of the siderographers’ trade. Uncirculated condition. Large-format, leatherette-bound souvenir volume issued for the Seventy-Ninth Convention, held in Washington, D.C., 1981. Gilt-stamped cover bears the triangular IPPDS&E Union emblem with founding date of 1893. The interior features a finely engraved title page of a seated woman flanked by 2 men under the title of the Union with the dates “1893-1981” flanking them, this card was printed by the B.E.P.; also included in the booklet is an introductory engraved plate by the director of the B.E.P.; a Treasury Department souvenir card featuring images of past and current B.E.P. buildings; an outstanding ABNC printed souvenir card featuring the well known “Reapers” vignette by Smiley; a Security-Columbian Banknote Co., Souvenir card with multiple vignettes; and other commemorative artwork, including allegorical vignettes, historic buildings of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Statue of Freedom, and patriotic motifs such as the Liberty Bell, Carpenters’ Hall, and Christ Church Philadelphia. Several pages carry compliments from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the Security-Columbian Banknote Company, among others, highlighting the ties between the union and America’s security printing institutions. A richly produced and visually impressive late 20th-century union souvenir, reflecting both the heritage of engraving and the enduring role of the union in U.S. printing history.
