With over fifty intaglio engraved vignettes, counters and end panels by one of the premier bank note companies of the 1820s & 1830s. “2” in the white box in the top border. Printed at a time when many banks realized that their very existence depended on the use of high quality, complex, and artistic vignettes on their banknotes in order to prevent counterfeiting. The vignette at the top center is a perfect example - William Penn’s Treaty with the Indians. The two small birds at the bottom (Running Grouse) attributed to James Audubon. Lightly pasted on a black paper sheet. VF detail, but there are numerous tears and splits that have been repaired with tape. Lot of 2 items, Includes: Litho printed program for the Thirty-second Biennial Convention of the International Association of Siderographers, held at the Ben Franklin Hotel, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, September 4, 1971, addressed to national officers, delegates, and membership; Matching intaglio printed invitation card issued by the Siderographers of Philadelphia announcing the Biennial Banquet, decorated with the city’s coat of arms. Light toning and spotting on the program cover, otherwise in Uncirculated condition. An excellent example of late-period union and engraving-related ephemera tied to the historic craft of plate engraving for U.S. currency and security printing. (2).
