481 Spanish-American War, $20, 3% Coupon Bond of 1898 Hessler X188G.

Washington, D.C. $20, I/U, S/N 42558, This is the lowest denomination for

this patriotic coupon bond issue. This attractive example has its full complement of eighty 15¢ coupons. The bond has  both paper originality and vibrant

color which is not common based upon the ink used at the time. Black on red-brown border and underprint, Washington at center with patriotic eagle at left,

This twenty year loan which was callable in 1908 and payable if not called earlier in 1918. This bond was issued to finance the Spanish-AmericanWar. The reverse
