Photographs of the Prince of Wales very similar to the portrait used
on the Dominion of Canada, 1923, $2, P-34 banknote. Photographs
are mounted on thin card in two different sizes, These were includ-
ed in the Fleury - Waterlow & Sons Album offered in another lot in
this auction, but due to the Canadian tie in, the lot was separated
from the album. Very possibly a Fleury design used on this well
known Canadian banknote. W&S. ..............................

Halifax,
(Canada), September 20, 1762. Issued 50 Pounds current money,
Tavern & Lodging House License from Sovereign Lord King George
the (Second Crossed out and Third written in) of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, to James Mackandrew and William Wright to
keep at his own house ....good, wholesome and cleanly Lodging and
Diet for Travelers, and Stablage, Fodder and Provender, or
Pasturage and Provender, as Season shall require for their
Horses......and shall not suffer or permit any unlawful Gaming in his
house, nor on Sabbath Day suffer any Person to Tipple and drink
more than is necessary”. It is signed by both Mackandrew and
Wright on bottom. Some toning and foxing of the document, ink
stains in a couple of small areas and ink burn on a couple small spots,
but otherwise, the document is in excellent condition. Rare early
