Paris, Stein autograph on 27 Rue de Fleurus letterhead, Color pho-
tograph of Stein above, Both are on light brown and maroon mat.
Stein (1874-1946) born in the U.S Stein moved to Paris in 1903
where she would live for the rest of her life. Living with her brother
Leo Stein, an art critic, the Steins amassed a significant collection of
work by French artists like Matisse, Cezanne, and Renoir and show-
cased them at the gallery at 27 Rue de Fleurus. Stein also wrote a
number of books during her time in Paris, “Three Lives “, “Tender
Buttons “, among others. .............................................

words he received from him only 7 months before he passed away,
On the left there is a black and white photo of Maugham’s profile
with his autograph, Photo and letter are matted and framed.
Maugham (1874-1965) English playwright, novelist and short story
writer. During the 1930’s he was reputedly the highest paid author
some of his notable works are; “Of Human Bondage “(1915), “The
Letter “(1926), “Rain “, and “The Razors Edge “(1944). ..

She is known for her novels So Big (1924), Show Boat (1926) which
was made into a musical), Cimarron (1929) which was
subsequently made into the 1931 film which won the Academy
Award for Best Picture, and Giant (1952) also made into a

New York, 1906, Samuel L. Clemens (signs as Mark
Twain on letter to a Miss Faith Baldwin of Brooklyn, Black and white
photograph of an older Samuel Clemens on left. Photo and letter
are matted and framed. Clemens (1835-1910), better known
by his pen name, is the American author of such notable novels as
“The Adventures of Tom Sawyer “ (1876), and its sequel,
“Adventures of Huckleberry Finn “ (1885). Twain is honored with an
asteroid named after him, a U.S postage stamp was issued for him,
along with numerous statues and historical sites throughout the

tion, Washington Irving was born in New York City on April 3, 1783,
author and editor, he achieved international fame for his fictional
works including the stories Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow, as well as for his biographies and historical writings.
Irving served as the United States ambassador to Spain and helped
