Saint Thomas, DWI, $500, P-12 Reprint proof circa 1920’s from original plate and included in the J. Willke book on Danish paper money. There is a small tear on the lower right that is archivally reinforced, otherwise the note appears Unc. to Choice Uncirculated, the bottom is cut into the bottom border and marks from old rust areas of the plate are slightly visible toward the middle and bottom of the note. This lovely note was engraved and printed by New England BNC. Essay Face design with oxen pulling wagon of sugar cane instead of image of the “Obelisk” for the 1956-58 ND Issue, no Back Proof. Printed on india paper mounted on large card, Black with no underprint, seals or serial numbers, Text on right beneath denomination is “Santo Domingo - Distrito Nacional - Republica Dominicana” which matches the 1962-63 ND issue. Text on lower right reads “Secretario De Estado De Finanzas” which matches the 1956 ND Issue. Choice to Gem Uncirculated condition. Evidently a transition design essay that was never used. Very possibly unique and the first time seen by this cataloger.
