French. Seems to be about buying land in Virginia and Kentucky. Very

253 French Gold Mining Stock Certificate Pair for California Gold Rush, ca.1850 Issued Stocks.

France. Lot of 2 gold mining company

stocks, Includes Compagnie Francaise & Americaine de San-Francisco,

5 Shares=5 Francs and Mine D’Or La Californienne, 1 Share=100

Francs. Both certificates are issued and uncancelled. First is a small sized

stock with a vignette of men working in a mine with a Zeus like figure

reclining beside them. Second is a large format stock printed on light

blue paper. Both are printed entirely in French. These are significant

stocks since these are most likely the first public offering of a California

gold rush company. Both are VF condition, on small tone spot on the
