Foreword

Welcome to the Sale

On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our

twenty-third exciting auction we have held over the last eight years. We are offering over 1040 lots of U.S. and Worldwide

Banknotes, Security Printing Ephemera and U.S. Federal Bonds and Documents. We are also featuring the exceptional

banknote collection of a Middle Eastern gentleman as well as additional selections from the Hamtramck Collection.

The sale begins with 800 lots of Worldwide banknotes and is highlighted by many rarities including a partial

U.A.E. 1973-1976 ND Issue Specimen set of 4 notes and a 1973 Pakistan presentation book of 5 Specimen banknotes.

Over 100 lots of Middle Eastern rarities from Jordan, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Palestine and numerous other

countries are offered in this sale with highlights including sequential pairs of Palestine Currency Board £1 and £5 notes

dated 1944 with rare prefixes never previously offered at auction; 1941 Egyptian Specimens of 5 and 10 pound notes by

Bradbury as well as numerous other Egyptian specimen notes; Iran is represented by over 25 lots including two Imperial

Bank of Persia specimens, numerous later specimens as well as 4 original Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran,

Serial #1 to #100 packs. The rest of the world includes hundreds of desirable single and group lots including a 1966 $1

Australia Specimen and two different Australian Serial #1 notes; the China offering includes a Ming note, one of the

earliest pieces of paper money known and is dated from the 1300’s; a Republika Ceskoslovenska, 1919 Proof Banknote

rarity and an extremely rare Vale al Portador, Billete del Tesoro, 1889 Issue Honduras banknote that has never been

offered at auction previously.

The auction will be packed with rare and desirable U.S. banknotes, security printing ephemera and U.S. Federal

Bonds and Documents including a newly discovered issued 1866, Temporary Loan of 1862, Hessler X134 F, U.S. Treasury,

Assistant Treasurer of the U.S., at Philadelphia, $600 Gold Coin Certificate; over 100 U.S. Savings Bonds, Liberty Loans

and Federal Documents dated from the 1940’s until 2010 from a new find with dozens of new varieties that have never

been offered in auction previously; dozens of Security Printing Ephemera lots including a new find of early Security

Printer advertising sheets ca.1820’s; over 100 lots of U.S. Obsolete Banknotes including 2 different examples of Salt Lake

City National Bank of Utah Bingham Canyon & Camp Floyd RR Company obsoletes dated 1874 and dozens of other U.S.

banknotes in single and multiple lots.

We are looking forward to another exciting auction and hope you enjoy our current offerings. We are in the

planning stages of our next coins and scripophily auction tentatively scheduled for late March to early April 2015, our

Hong Kong auction scheduled for late April to early May 2015 and the “Rudolph Laubenheimer Archives” in April 2015

featuring his artwork, dating from the 1830’s to 1900’s showing every aspect of his development as an artist and engraver

as well as his son’s work, Ernst Laubenheimer. If you have suitable material, we are still seeking consignments for our

upcoming 2015 auctions. I would like to thank everyone who has participated in our previous auctions and has helped

make this auction series a resounding success.
