Undertint Proof Set of Five.
Lot of 5 Undertint Production Proofs
in the issued colors, All are from the 1917 “Tsao Kuan” Issue.
Includes the face undertints from $1, P-37J (S/M#C294-65); $5, P-
37
K (S/M#C294-66); $10, P-37L (S/M#C294-67); $50, P-37M
(
S/M#C294-68); and, $100, P-37N (S/M#C294-69), Condition for all
but the $5 ranges between Choice VF to XF-AU with small tears,
edge problems and mounting issues on the right back of each note,
the $5 has two large tears but is intact and easily mended. Only list-
ed as proof in SCWPMwith catalog values ranging between $14,000
to $45,000 for each note. This unique set would match the proof or
specimen undertints of the notes. This is the only opportunity most
collectors will ever have to owning at least a portion of this impor-

Lot of 3 proofs, All are back proof design and title ele-
ments printed in black on india paper, Includes $1, P-37D
(
S/M#C294-62); $5, P-37E S/M#C294-63; and, $10, P-37F
(
S/M#C294-64), all are uncirculated with minor glue stains from
mounting, Each has title “Bank of China” used on the top of the
back; The denomination with text “Equal to....” and bottom frame
that a place name would be inserted into. All are labeled “Litho Die
For Back” with plate numbers, Unique production proof from ABNC
archives of an extremely rare note that most collectors can only

Harbin, China. 1917, 10 cents= 1 Chiao, P-43b, (S/M#C294-72b),
Issued banknote, Orange, Bridge at center, Exchange clause
blanked out of the face and back, S/N 732458, PMG graded About
Uncirculated 55 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality), rare note in any
grade and this example is the finest known of only two that have
been graded. A trophy note for the discriminating collector that
cannot be improved upon............................................

Clause Blocked Out, PMG graded Very Fine 30. Rare note in any

Tientsin, China, 1 Yuan, P-51s2 (S/M#C294-100), Specimen ban-
knote, brown on m/c, pagoda in middle, back brown, Specimen
overprints, POC’s, PMG graded Superb Gem Unc. 67 EPQ
(
Exceptional Paper Quality), scarce note in superb condition that is
very possibly one of the finest if not the finest known for this issue
with perfect centering, bright colors and a trophy note appearance.
