Well known image of Columbus holding sword and flag with his crewmen and natives in background, 120mm by 60 mm. Top of envelope also has “Republica De Colombia” stock or bond title in black. Also Used on the Back of the U.S. 1st Issue $5 National Bank Note Series. Rare archival proof vignette of Christopher Columbus. Lot also includes ABNC vignette of Policarpa Salavarrieta done in 1971. Policarpa Salavarrieta (c. 26 January 1795 – 14 November 1817), also known by her nickname of La Pola, was a Neogranadine seamstress who spied for the Revolutionary Forces during the Spanish Reconquista of the Viceroyalty of New Granada. She was captured by Spanish Royalists and ultimately executed for high treason. The Day of the Colombian Woman is commemorated on the anniversary of her death. She is now considered a heroine of the independence of Colombia. The issued banknote is in VF+ condition and the Large Die Proof Vignette dated “12-16- (19)71” is in CU condition. (2).
