By WWII, it had become a key site for naval engineering, shipbuilding, and munitions production, known especially for constructing the battleship Yamato, Japan’s most formidable battleship. During the war, Kure served as a critical hub for repairs and refits, but in 1945 it was heavily bombed by Allied forces, leading to extensive destruction. After Japan’s surrender, the arsenal was demilitarized and eventually repurposed for commercial shipbuilding. Simplistic in design, these notes were only valid within the arsenal, facilitating transactions without requiring standard currency. Est. $230-350 Jersey - German Occupation WWII 176 176 Jersey.
