W&S. ������������������������������ Est. $200-300 USA & Canada 361 361 Dura Note Advertising Note ND (ca.1980-90s), Uncut Sheet of 6 Progress Proofs U.S. & Canada, ND (ca.1980-90s). 100 denomination, P-Unlisted, Uncut block of 6, “Dura” Note Polymer banknotes similar to Tyvek polymer material. Red brown on light green undertint. Face has ocean oil well drilling platform with ornate designs and back has light multi-colored cycloid security undertint only. CU to Gem Uncirculated condition. DuraNote polymer material was developed as part of a research project by Mobil Oil in the late 1980s to early 1990s. Different countries including the U.S., Canada, England, Venezuela, Mexico and others had there banknotes printed using this material to test it and see if it could be a useful paper alternative. Unfortunately, Mobil Oil merged with Exxon Oil and the project was halted. Sold “AS IS” no returns accepted. These are authentic proof vignettes from the American Bank Note Archives which were dispersed through auctions and private sales between 1988 and 2005. They are extremely rare intaglio proof vignette printed on India paper from the original plates in very limited quantities by ABNC. The vignettes were used for U.S. and Worldwide Obsolete banknotes, stock and bond certificates, checks, drafts and other fiscal issues. ABNC printed extra vignette proofs for use in future designs as well as for samples for their records. Most of them are known with very few impressions as vignettes (between 1 and 20 total, mostly in the 5 or 10 total printed category). Predecessor printers such as Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Co.; National Bank Note Co.; Continental Bank Note Co., and others are represented. All were acquired by ABNC over the years and kept in their archives that were stored by ABN.
