Lot of 3 Promissory Notes Issued by the Pay-Table. One is dated January 28th and is issued to Captain Thomas North for 100 Pounds, with signatures from Pay-Table members Eleazer Wales and Fenn Wadsworth, with Jedediah (or Jedidiah) Huntington’s signature across; The other pieces are both dates February 18th and are both issued to Ralph Pomeroy ESQ for 6 Shilling and for 24 Shillings, with signatures from Eleazer Wales, Fenn Wadsworth, and Oliver Wolcott Jr. Promissory Notes like this were issued by the State of Connecticut to help finance the Revolutionary War. Military finances in the state of Connecticut were managed by the Pay-Table which was also known as the Committee of Four during the Revolutionary War. VF condition with some toning and fragile fold lines. Signatures on both are from important figures in early Connecticut history.
