Costa Rica, 1971, Lot of 3 proposed Front and Back Essay PHOTOCOPY Proofs printed on off white paper of essay designs that are bank note sized. These designs were a proposal to the bank in 1971 and include front and back photo or photocopy proofs (Not originals, but these were official copies made by the ABNC for their correspondence and records). Included are the designs for the 1972-87, 10 Colones, P-237 and 1972-83, 20 Colones, P-238. Both of the final designs that were eventually printed are significantly different than these proposals. The third design for a 50 Colones note was never printed by ABNC and evidently was only printed by TDLR, so this is the only evidence of that design which is unknown to the hobby. Also included is a June 15, 1971 detailed 5 page translation of the letter from the Bank requesting ABNC to submit their proposed designs and all of the design and printing requirements that they require.
