Meserve including Grant and Sherman in Uniform Civil War CDV Lot of 5 Photographs by Meserve, Includes 5 photographs of U.S. Grant; William T. Sherman; George G. Meade; Philip Sheridan all in uniform and John G Nicolay. All are 2.25 x 4 inches, Backs have printed “Collection of Americana - Frederick Hill Meserve - New York” and name of photo subjects written in pencil in Meserve’s hand. All are in exceptional condition. Frederick Hill Meserve (1865 – 1962) was a businessman and collector of photographs. He published a large collection of early American photographic portraits. In 1944 he worked with historian Carl Sandburg to publish 100 photographs of Abraham Lincoln. The Library of Congress has his photographic publishing’s in its collection. His father William Neal Meserve was a veteran of the American Civil War. (Ex. John E. Lot of 2 Certificates issued to H.H. Fink. First is his Mutual Life and Accident Insurance Certificate for his widow and children, Second is his pension certificate. Black on yellow underprint photos of 2 gentlemen on upper left and right with allegorical Liberty with woman and children image with pyramid in middle, Both are in XF condition. Crane Litho, Cleveland, O. ������������ Est. $120-240 EPHEMERA - SLAVE DOCUMENTS Florida 465 465 Florida, Slave Related Legal Documents from the Superior Court in the City of Tallahassee, 1842 Tallahassee, Florida, 1842. Florida, Slave Related Legal Documents in a Collection of Court Case Documents from the Superior Court in the City of Tallahassee. Several pages of handwritten sheets, describing a court case of the Superior Court of the Middle District of the Territory of Florida for the County of Leon. Most of the pages are held together by fragile ribbon at top center, however some have broken free. All of the documents refer to the case of Isham (spelling may be different) Johnson and Miles M. Johnson (also listed as Johnston) vs. William Wyatt and William H. Wyatt. The dense legal language mentions “goods and chattels, slaves, lands and tenements” of the Wyatts. Later on the piece, it is written that “No property found 22 July 1842.” Last page has an embossed court seal in brown with ribbon underneath. Fine-VF condition but fragile with toning. Lot of 2 Real Photo Stereo Views by Keystone, Includes: 1909, #11555 - Dog sled in Alaska, “Will Campbell, the Only White Boy on the Allenkaket River, Alaska”, being pulled by a 6 dog team, (all big dogs, not just Huskies); and, 1927, #32062 Lindbergh in suit standing next to his airplane, “Spirit of St. Louis”, location of the photo is not certain.
