Rare Stock certificate with only 5 examples found in the ABN Archives in 2002. �������������������� Est. $275-550 Pennsylvania 580 580 Bank of the United States of America, 1818, I/U Stock Certificate Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1818. 100 Shares I/C Capital Stock Certificate, Black printing on black border printed on brown paper with multicolored threads, Company title at top with Standing Liberty, Eagle and shield at left, S/N 4705. The certificate was made out to Jonathan Smith, Cashier of the Bank of the United States, VF-XF condition, Murray Draper Fairman & Co. The First Bank of the United States was a bank chartered by the United States Congress on February 25, 1791. The charter was for 20 years. The bank’s charter expired in 1811 under President James Madison. In 1816, however, Madison revived it in the form of the Second Bank of the United States. The back has an endorsement where the certificate was transferred to a share holder in London in 1819.
