New York City and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1860, Lot of 2 American Bank Note Co., Intaglio printed letterheads from their New York and Philadelphia branches, are both addressed to Titus Eddy & Co., Ink manufacturers in Troy New York. The lot includes a New York, Jan. 25, 1860, 5 inch x 8 inch Letterhead from the New York office that is requesting 2 barrels of Calcined Black (ink) with the letter signed by Wm. H. Whiting from the firmWellstood, Hay & Whiting, the letterhead design is relatively simple with a curved “Office of the American Bank Note Co.”, title on top with the New York location; and, an 8.25 inch x 10.5 inch Philadelphia, June 19th, 1860, Letter to Titus Eddy requesting a bill with the letter signed by Henry Perkins from the firm Danforth, Perkins & Company. The letterhead has ornate lettering on top listing Robert Draper as Manager and Henry Perkins as Secretary and Treasurer over the company name with listing of the companies making up ABNC on the left and the office branch locations on the right. This is an extremely rare early variety of ABNC letterheads. Both are in VF to XF condition. ABNC.
