The Mustang Ranch is a brothel in Storey County, Nevada, about 20 miles east of Reno. Under owner Joe Conforte, Mustang Ranch Brothel, the precursor to Mustang Ranch, became Nevada’s first licensed brothel in 1971. This eventually lead to the legalization of brothels in 10 of 17 counties in the state. Mustang Ranch opened to the public in 1976 and was America’s largest brothel with 166 acres, and the most profitable. The Mustang Ranch was forfeited to the federal government in 1999 following Conforte’s convictions for tax fraud, racketeering and other crimes. It was auctioned off and reopened in 2005, 5 miles to the east under the same name but different ownership. This was issued under the original owners in 1990. Rare and interesting piece. Est. $150-300 New York 560 560 Sterling Cycle Co., 1888 I/U Stock Certificate. In 1894 Annie “Londonderry” Kopchovsky traveled “around the world” on a Sterling. Starting from Boston and heading west, her first bike was a Columbia but it proved unsuitable. In Chicago, the Sterling company gave her a men’s Sterling (weighing 21 pounds, it had no brakes) which made riding in skirts impossible. She then wore bloomers and finally rode in a men’s riding suit. Peter Zheutlin’s book “Around the World on Two Wheels” records her journey. She claimed to be the first woman to “cycle around the world”, duplicating a feat that Thomas Stevens had accomplished 10 years earlier. In 1898 Sterling won a Silver Medal at the Trans-Mississippi International Exposition held in Omaha, Nebraska for its “chainless bicycles and safeties”. Est. $100-200 561 561 All-America Football Conference, ND (ca.1930s), Specimen Certificate and Possibly Unique Specimen Membership Certificate, Green on green border and underprint, Underprint is of a kicker just after a kick, Pin punched Specimen, VF condition with damage to top margin, NBNC. (AAFC) was a professional American football league that challenged the established National Football League (NFL) from 1946 to 1949. One of the NFL’s most formidable challengers, the AAFC attracted many of the nation’s best players, and introduced many lasting innovations to the game. However, the AAFC was ultimately unable to sustain itself in competition with the NFL. After it folded, three of its teams were admitted to the NFL: the San Francisco 49ers, the Cleveland Browns and the original Baltimore Colts (not to be confused with the later Baltimore Colts team, now the Indianapolis Colts). Est. $500-1000
